QUESTION:  Am I eligible to play in SSLL? If not, how do I find the league I fall within?

ANSWER:     SSLL’s League Boundaries are: SUMMERLIN OR RED ROCK COUNTRY CLUB RESIDENT WHO LIVES IN RED ROCK COUNTRY CLUB OR IN SUMMERLIN WEST OF THE 215 FREEWAY OR SOUTH OF CHARLESTON. If you do not fall within this area, please either view the Little League Nevada District 4 website at http://www.eteamz.com/nvdistrict4/ or View a copy of the District 4 League Boundary Map found on our website.

QUESTION:  WHAT ARE THE DIVISIONS THIS YEAR?

ANSWER:      We now have two divisions that use a Tee ( TBall division for ages 4-5, WITHOUT coach pitch and the  Rookies (formerly our TBall division), with a Coach pitch/Tball combination). The old Rookies division (Machine Pitch) is now  called the “Minors 1A Division"

 

QUESTION:  How do I determine my child’s uniform size?

ANSWER:     Go to UNIFORMS tab on the index for sizes and sizing information.  You can also contact our supplier Sportco at 702-739-9750 and ask forinformation on how to select your size.

QUESTION:  What is involved in being a Team Parent?

ANSWER:     The duties of Team Parent includes but is not limited to assisting the manager with scheduling snacks, team party, sending out schedules, etc.  An informational workshop for Team Parents will be held early in March to review the roles and responsibilities.

QUESTION:  Will the Minors 1A – (Machine Pitch Division (Formerly Rookies) keep score this season?

ANSWER:     Yes, Minors 1A will keep score and standings will be kept beginning this season; we will also have an umpire for all the games. Seeding for the end of season tournament will be based on the regular season standings.

QUESTION:  How are teams put together in the Minors 1A Division?  Are you keeping any teams in tact or are teams being reassigned? Can I play on the same team as my neighbor?

ANSWER:     Managers of Minors 1A teams can retain only 5 players: the children of: 1. the manager; 2. The three assistant coaches; and 3. The child of the team’s sponsor. The rest of the team will be randomly assigned.

QUESTION:  WHAT YOU GET FOR YOUR REGISTRATION FEE?

ANSWER:     Registration fee includes: Uniform, field time, scheduling of at least 12 games, umpires in appropriate divisions, participation trophies for Tee Ball, Rookies, and Single A Divisions. Trophies for end of season tournaments all divisions. FEES DO NOT include pictures this year, although the League will schedule a picture day for all teams.

 

QUESTION:  What equipment do we need for the season?

ANSWER:     The League will provide the entire uniform, including hat, pants, shirt, socks and belt. You will need a glove, helmet, cleats, and athletic supporter/cup.  Usually there are plenty of bats, so you don’t need to buy one.

QUESTION:  I’m registered, what’s next?

ANSWER:     Once you have signed up online, your child is not fully eligible to play until we have a copy of his/her birth certificate on file. Even if your child played in our league last year, we still need a copy. Please provide the league a copy of the following:

1. Birth certificate

2. Three (3) proofs of residency for Summerlin South

QUESTION: Can I request a team?

ANSWER:     Tee-Ball:  The manager can bring the entire team with him provided he provides the League a list of players before 2/10/2012.

Rookies (Coach Pitch/Tee Ball Combo):  The manager can bring the entire team with him provided he provides the League a list of players before 2/10/2012.

Minors 1A:  The manager cannot bring an entire team.  The manager is allowed 5 players so teams are kept evenly distributed.  The 5 players consist of:

1. The Manager’s Child;

2. Three assistant coaches’ children of your choice; and

3. A sponsor’s child.

The remaining 8 or 9 kids will be randomly assigned by the Player Agent.

Minors AA and AAADivisions:  There is no freezing of any players (other than manager's child, NOT EVEN ASSISTANT COACHES). This is a Little League International rule. Players must be selected during the draft for each respective division.

Majors Division:  Returning Major players will return to their respective teams.  All other players will be selected during the Major’s draft.

QUESTION:  What is the practice schedule?

ANSWER:     The practice schedule is determined by the manager of the team; players are not placed on a team until early to mid-Feb.  Practices start end February to beginning of March. The managers choose a practice schedule, and how many days they choose to practice; usually once a week for the younger divisions, and twice a week for the older ones. Games begin end of March and will be on Saturdays and one other weekday (Monday-Friday); usually a coach will not practice once games begin in the lower divisions, but may choose so in the upper divisions. You will hear from your child’s manager by the end of February.

 

QUESTION:  ARE PICTURES INCLUDED IN MY REGISTRATION FEE?

ANSWER:     No.  FEES DO NOT include pictures this year, although the League will schedule a picture day for all teams.
